Support Line

Sometimes, it helps to talk to someone who just gets it.

Being a parent or carer of a child or young person with SEND can bring all sorts of challenges. There might be days when things feel overwhelming, when you’re not sure where to turn, or when you simply wish you could talk to someone who understands.

Often you don’t need someone to give you answers or tell you what to do. You just need a listening ear, a bit of understanding, or the chance to talk things through with a parent who has been there too.

That’s why BANES PCF runs a Parent Carer Support Line, offering a friendly, understanding space for parents and carers across Bath and North East Somerset.

A listening ear when you need one

Our support line is run by parents, for parents. We understand that family life doesn’t always go to plan, and that finding your way through the world of SEND can sometimes feel confusing, frustrating or lonely.

Whether you’re dealing with something that’s been worrying you, have a question about SEND, are unsure what support might be available, or just want to chat with another parent who gets it, we’re here to listen.

You don’t need to have a particular problem or know exactly what you want to say. You might just need to get something off your chest, talk through what’s happening, or share how things are going.

We might not have all the answers, but we’ll always listen and never judge. We’re all parents too, and we know how much it can help to feel understood.

What can I talk about?

Whatever is on your mind. You might want to:

  • Talk about something that’s been difficult at home, at school or in everyday family life.
  • Ask a question about SEND or talk through something you’re not sure about.
  • Share worries or frustrations with someone who understands.
  • Find out more about the support and information that might be available.
  • Simply have a conversation with someone who gets it.

Having a conversation early on can help you feel a little less alone with whatever is going on.

You’re not alone

Every family’s experience is different, but there can be comfort in talking to someone who understands some of the things you’re going through.

Our Parent Carer Support Line is here for parents and carers across BANES. Whether you need a listening ear, a little reassurance or just someone to talk things through with, we’d love to hear from you.
