SEND Inspection

SEND Inspection in Bath & North East Somerset – June 2026

This month, Bath & North East Somerset’s Local Area Partnership will take part in a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) inspection by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

This is a normal check that happens in all areas. It is about how well local services work together to support children and young people with SEND. It is not a check on individual schools or early years settings.

What is the inspection about?

Inspectors will focus on how education, health and social care services work together. This includes how children’s needs are found, how support is planned, and how well children and young people with SEND (aged 0–25) are helped to do well.

The aim is to get a clear picture of how well the whole system is working, not to judge individual staff or settings.

What does this mean for parents?

This is a chance for families to share their experiences. Inspectors want to hear what support is really like, what is working well and what could be better.

How can you take part?

If you are a parent or carer of a child or young person aged 0–25 with SEND in Bath & North East Somerset, you can share your views by filling in a short survey.

The survey is optional, anonymous and private. Your answers will help inspectors understand what life is like for families.

Complete the survey here, it will close at 9:00am on 9 June 2026
