NEW Support Line

We’ve developed our friendly new support line by training some of our Parent Representatives to provide advice and guidance to parent carers new to – or confused by – the SEND system. It’s called the Peer-to-Peer Support Line (by which we mean it’s run by parent carers for parent carers). We’ve got lots of helpful resources which we can share with you and, as well as information and advice, you’ll have a friendly parent carer to talk to.

Hopefully, we can help reduce the feelings of isolation that often come with parenting a child with additional needs, and show you that you’re not alone. We’re here to listen and support you, and sometimes that will make the difference between being overwhelmed and being ready to tackle the next step.

For the time being, this is a pilot project that we’ve been given funding for, but we hope that by training some of our Parent Representatives we might be able to continue to offer it in the longer term.

It’s important that we’re clear about what we can and can’t offer. We can signpost other sources of help and advice, but we can’t offer legal advice or attend meetings with you. We can tell you about the types of support we offer as a Parent Carer Forum, give you links to the right resources and services, and offer guidance on how to navigate your SEND journey. Above all, we’ll offer a listening ear and empathetic support, from someone who truly understands how difficult being a parent carer can be, and just wants to help you with well-informed advice.

We’re offering help with working out what support you can get for yourself and your child, from a fellow parent carer who has lived experience and can understand what you’re going through. You can call 01761 502515 at any time and leave a message asking us to call you back. We’ll ring you back as soon as we can, probably between 9.30am and 2.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Please give us a call and let us know how we can help you and your family.
